Vétiver
Cécile BoudonThe first baby of the house
(Born on 09/14/09)
Vetiver is a common donkey… but not so common for us: he is the very first foal born at home .
His mother, Sophie, had arrived three months earlier, slashed by barbed wire and completely malnourished. In her condition, it was impossible to imagine she was carrying a baby.
And then, one morning, the surprise: a small, all-black creature, lying in the middle of the meadow, surrounded by a circle of curious donkeys.
A planned departure... and finally cancelled
Vetiver wasn't originally meant to stay in the breeding program. But how do you part with a little one-year-old furball, especially when it's your first?
So he was neutered to avoid squabbles... but he still has a certain dominant male instinct. Sometimes he still tries to mate - I explain to him that it's no use, but he doesn't want to believe me!
And today?
Big question: what does Vétiver do at ém'ane?
Answer: absolutely nothing... except "getting fat". A real little sausage with big ears, and we like it that way! 🖤
