Arsinoée

Arsinoée

Cécile Boudon

The great lady with the fragile breath

(Born on 05/22/10)

At 1.45 m at the withers, Arsinoée is not lacking in presence! But beneath her sweet and delicate exterior, Arsi hides a temperament that is... let's say, colorful . A bit like the Nelly Olson in our series 😆: charming from the front, a little mischievous from behind. In short, beware of still waters!

A life turned upside down too soon

The first scheduled birth of our herd, she was destined to ensure the renewal of the herd and become a mother in her turn. But life decided otherwise.

On November 7, 2013, her mother Ninon died without warning. At the same time, we discovered that Arsi, then three years old, was suffering from severe respiratory failure. Her condition deteriorated rapidly. Endoscopy, IV drip, intensive care… after hours of difficult work, she recovered. But the diagnosis fell: severe emphysema – an irreversible destruction of her pulmonary alveoli.

What it changes for her

This chronic lung disease requires a lot of energy just to breathe, exhausting her every day. Suspecting a hereditary cause, we decided that Arsinoée would not become a mother: the risk to her health and the risk of transmitting the disease were too great.

She will therefore never produce milk, but she remains a valuable member of the herd, with her large size, her strong character and her ears pricked up like the antennae of a warrior princess.
